We are excited to share our love of this valley with all of you!

Phil and Lisa moved their family to a small country home tucked in the Chehalem Valley in 2016.  They had no idea how much they would fall in love with the area and it's fine wines.

Being adventurers at heart and wanting to provide visiting family and friends a distinct experience, they started exploring the Chehalem Valley wine scene by bike.  They soon discovered that cycling through this area, allowed them to savor and better appreciate the sights, sounds and flavors of this region.

What was rooted in their love of cycling and wine, has branched to sharing this unique adventure with you!

FAQ

Why Choose Wine de Roads for your Wine Country Bike Tour?

Wine de Roads is owned and operated by a couple who lives in and loves everything the Chehalem Valley has to offer.  We are a small company that prides ourselves on giving you a unique, unforgettable Oregon wine tasting experience.

Where do we meet for our tour?

Tours begin from our shop, located in the Dundee Hills AVA, 4 miles west of Newberg, Oregon.

What is the difficulty and distance of the bike tours?

Routes we ride are geared towards “Energetic Beginners”, are mainly flat with a few rolling hills and will have  sections of gravel depending on the route we take for the day.  The total distance we travel is between 8 and 12 miles at a leisurely pace so you can enjoy the sights as we ride.  Winery stops are about every 4-5 miles, but we will make a few extra stops along the way to share more about the area.  The van will pick all riders up after our last stop and drive you back to the shop. If you want a higher level of difficulty or more miles, please contact us and we can do our best to set up a custom tour for you!

Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost?

Wine tasting fees vary from $30 to $55 per person per winery. In most cases you can share a tasting (one glass) with another member of your group and many wineries will waive your tasting fee if you purchase bottles or join their wine club.

Is there van support for the tour in case I do not want to ride the whole day?

Our support van is always nearby. If for any reason you are unable or don't want to continue by bike, the van can pick you up. The van will also pick up any wine purchases made throughout the day and have them ready for you when you return to the shop.

What is the weather like?

Expect changeable weather in spring and fall but generally the months we operate are great cycling weather.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, breathable clothes you can ride in. Layers are best as the mornings can be cooler than the rest of the day. Tennis shoes or similar shoes are great. If you decide to wear pants, please be aware that your right leg will need to be rolled up or cinched about the pants leg to make sure the bike chain does not eat your pants. Don’t forget your sunglasses, sun block and camera!

What types of bikes will we be using?

We offer hybrid bikes with upright handle bars for comfort and 24 speeds. They come with a front bags to store your personal items and a water bottle cage.

What is for lunch?

We provide you with a gourmet wine country style picnic including charcuterie box filled with meats, artisan cheeses, crackers, vegetable tray and a sweet treat!
